Notes
Henry is listed as one of the eleven children of William and Agnes
Hensley Godsey in William H. Godsey's FAMILY HISTORY, 1969. Abe Godsey, a
grandson of Henry's wrote in 1966 that Henry was a son of William. He is
listed on the 1837 Sullivan
County, TN Tax list, the Kingsport Area. He was in the 1840, 1850, 1860,
1870, and 1880 Sullivan County census. Mary Godsey is in the household of
the Jenkins family in the 1900 Sullivan County, TN, census. He was a
wagon maker by trade. He
purchased 30 acres for $150.00 on the south side of the Holston River
from Benjamin Glover October 28, 1851. He and children were in the
household with Glover children for the 1860 Sullivan County, TN, census.
After the death of Abigail, he
married Mary Glover, widow of J. Glover. Susan Glover is in his household
for the 1870 census. He enrolled June 13, 1863, at the age of 61 as a
private in the Confederate Sullivan County, Tn, Reserves, Capt. James
Witcher's Company, Zollicoffer
Mounted Rifles. He may be buried in the Ordway Cemetery, located between
Bluff City and Bristol, TN.

Catherine Reynolds. He left his property to Julia and Alexander to care
for he and Elizabeth in their
old age.
